Here I am applying some of the techniques used by Egon Schiele to make the compositions more interesting and to create more dramatic negative spaces – letting the hands touch or overshoot the edges of the image. In one, I have the hand resting on an absent surface, again referencing Schiele.
I’m also using his palette of colours – oranges, yellows, greens and blues.
In the last image I have given the negative space even more emphasis with strong colour and a pattern echoing the outlines of the fist and the outer edges.
