part 4: ex 4: face

Back to my face. I used grey paper for the colour version so the white highlights pop a bit more. This one is interesting to me. The nose is too wide, the eyes are slightly enlarged and the set of my lower lip is too strong and yet – I see me looking back – the me in my mind’s eye rather than the me in the mirror.

The mono version is a more complete drawing. I spent more time on it and it is a better likeness but …. there’s something a bit stilted about it – it lacks oomph.

I prefer the colour version.
