I had been promising myself that I would try a Caroline Walker-esque indoor-outdoor style of painting and here it is – a view of my kitchen-living room from the back garden. I do have orange lamps in there so there is an orange tint to everything but I have ramped up the effect to eleven for added interest. The fading verbena seed heads form a crisp foreground element. The increasing lack of detail in the interior gives it depth (I feel) and draws the eye in.
